Vienna, Austria
Vienna, Austria
I must admit, I didn't know much about Vienna or Austria other than that they speak German and Arnold Schwarzenegger was born there.
We flew Austrian Airlines, and I must confess, not my favorite airline. The airport in Vienna was nice with a modern indsustrial design. It was a bit cold in aesthetics and pretty significant contrast to Scandinavia's design style.
A bit of rough start too; as we reached out AirBnB at around 11:30PM, we were instructed to retrieve our key at the entrance gate from a lock box. There was no key at the lock box. We messaged the host. No answer. I called his phone, no one picked up. We were about to search for an alternative, and he finally responded. The cleaning lady forgot to put the key in the lock box. Crisis averted. Were able to get a little bit of sleep
Waking up early, we decided to head to a place nearby called the Belvedere Palace. A summer home to Prince Eugene of Savoy - a prestigious general- in the early 1700s. The palace was beautiful with it's Baroque architecture and large fountain and gardens.
We couldn't stay long since we had a plane to catch, but we would be remiss if we didn't at least have an apelstrudel. We found a bakery by the train station that was well reviewed and open early. I also bought some coffee.
Made It Home to LAX
Thanks to Jehovah we made it home safe.
A Special Highlight
One thing I really appreciated at the end of this trip was that we met other delegates going home from other conventions. They were wearing green lanyards for their International Convention in Poland. Always a treat when you get to meet more brothers and sisters
